Capacity Builder
The IVAC Capacity Builder Program provides a pre-commercial investment vehicle for qualified Alberta-based, private sector early stage technology companies in the ICT, life sciences and other industrial technology sectors which require assistance in completing their proof of concept work through to the commercialization phase. Investments may be used for any worthwhile pre-commercial purpose that meets the IVAC Capacity Builder Program mandate. Eligible activities may include:
- Support for mentoring, management expertise.
- Developing a new product or service.
- Enhancing an existing service.
- Conducting third party assessments such as clinical studies or regulatory reviews.
- Intellectual property development.
- Developing professional marketing plans, assessments and feasibility studies.
Other proposals may focus on referral services that are required, such as legal, professional and engineering advice. In addition, there are opportunities to finance selected equipment, for example, to enable pilot-scale or proof-of-concept processing and development of prototype products.
It is expected that successful commercial ventures reinvest in the Early Stage Venture Fund via repayment of the royalty multiple.
