Why has the IVAC Capacity Builder fund been created?
The fund was created in order to help early stage technology companies in Alberta get to the investor-ready stage, where they can attract a third party to invest risk capital.

Where did the initial funds come from?
AVAC received a one-time grant from the government of Alberta, totalling $30 million, to create the IVAC initiative. $10 million of this is earmarked for the Capacity Builder Fund, with the remaining $20 million dedicated to the Early Stage Venture Fund. As companies who receive funding from IVAC enter the commercial stage and begin repaying royalties, the fund will grow and become self-perpetuating.
