Alberta Company First To Offer Custom-blended Pet Food Online - Apr 28, 2010

AVAC Ltd. invests $700,000 in RedMoon Pet Food Fresh

Calgary, Alberta. April 28, 2010 – Alberta-based RedMoon Pet Food Fresh Inc., the first company to offer custom-blended dog and cat food to pet owners online, has received a $700,000 investment from AVAC Ltd.

AVAC Ltd. is a private, not-for-profit Alberta company that invests in promising early-stage businesses.

RedMoon will use the investment to complete its e-commerce market launch, further its product development and optimize its Crossfield production facility. The online experience will be tailored to consumers who want to use the Internet (www.redmoonpetfood.com) to custom-blend their dog or cat food and have it delivered to their door.

RedMoon allows consumers to go online to create nutritious, locally sourced dry pet food that meets their pets’ unique dietary requirements. Owners can feed their pet a diet based on the animal’s age, size and energy level, as well as other factors such as allergies. The food can also be custom-fortified with exclusive supplements that assist the immune system, hips, joints, skin and coat.  Pet food formulation experts are developing the products.

RedMoon uses Alberta-grown antibiotic-and-hormone-free meats, whole raw fruits and vegetables and liver and low-glycemic carbohydrate sources such as yellow peas, plus all-natural vitamins and minerals.
