Vermilion entrepreneur earns $25k for throwing Perfect Pitch

clock February 16, 2011 23:49 by author Administrator

Megan Oleksyn of Vermilion, Alberta has won the first Perfect Pitch competition and received $25,000 in business start-up dollars.

Oleksyn will use the money to develop her communications consulting company, Southpaw Communications, which offers communications audits, communications plans, media packages, sponsorship packages, websites and more.

“The Perfect Pitch program really made me examine the viability and sustainability of my business,” said Oleksyn.  “It also gave me the resources and tools to improve my plan to the point where I will be able to do my consulting full time in the near future.  Without Perfect Pitch it would have taken me far longer to get my business to this point.”

AVAC’s Ross Bricker was one of the Perfect Pitch judges.

Perfect Pitch, a partnership between the FarmOn Foundation, the Bashaw Agricultural Show Committee, Creating Pathways for Entrepreneurial Families and Growing Forward, assists young rural entrepreneurs in realizing their business dreams.
